Portraits of Goodnight Gravity

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

I shot some studio portraits with the members of a band called Goodnight Gravity and it was a really good time. I normally don’t shoot band members in a studio and I most certainly never normally shoot artists with their instruments unless they are playing them but this time I decided to give it a try because the band really wanted a few. I am busy logging the photographs now and am short of time but I just converted 3 of the photos I took to Black & White so that I could see what they look like and I think they came out really cool. I actually really do prefer the colour photographs but I will keep these as well as all the rest of the shoot until I have sorted through them and the band has them as I don’t like giving away too much.

I just like to introduce the bands that I work with and this post is one of those. The band is made up of 3 members currently and they are trying something quite different to what I am used to but I do like it. Give them a listen if you are at all into Alternative music and I am sure you will appreciate what you hear.

Jon Savage in Writing

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

I shot some photographs for the Cassette crew a few weeks back during the recording of their new album, which sounds amazing by the way, and I haven’t really had any time to look through them yet until now and there are some amazing shots. I love these two of frontman Jon busy writing some stuff in deep thought while Nathan was recording some bass lines. I really love being in studio and really love being involved in the music scene so much. Look out for the next Cassette album, it’s going to definitely be a good one.

Harris Tweed Finishing Up

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

With everything that has been going on here I just realized that I hadn’t yet posted this even though I thought it was done last week. Crazy.

My friends from Harris Tweed have been in studio with Brent Knopf from Menomena and I went to shoot some photographs of them finishing things up before Brent headed back to Portland. It was super fun because they had some of the crew from the Wits Choir in studio with them to record vocals and honestly it all sounds incredible.

I cannot wait to hear this album when it is finished.

Harris Tweed in Studio

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

My friends from Harris Tweed are currently in studio working hard on their new album so today we went passed to see how it is going and shoot some photographs. It’s all sounding bloody amazing as imaginable so this blog is to wish them good luck with the rest of their time on this.

We are shooting the new album photographs quite soon so I will keep you posted on them as we go along.Harris Tweed in studio recording their new album photographed by Marcus MaschwitzHarris Tweed in studio recording their new album photographed by Marcus MaschwitzHarris Tweed in studio recording their new album photographed by Marcus MaschwitzHarris Tweed in studio recording their new album photographed by Marcus MaschwitzHarris Tweed in studio recording their new album photographed by Marcus MaschwitzHarris Tweed in studio recording their new album photographed by Marcus MaschwitzHarris Tweed in studio recording their new album photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

In Studio

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

Went passed the studio today to hang with the Flash Republic crew while they did vocals for their recordings and shot a few pics. Their stuff really is sounding so good. Can’t wait for it to come out.

Chris Chameleon

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

Again, I have been sorting through all my photos and I really must have a milllion and more of them. I shot these last year of Chris Chameleon while he was recording his 7de Hemel album. He really is a talented guy doing the weirdest stuff and I really like it all. My friend Darryl from Harris Tweed did the recording so this was a shot from that day. There quite a lot of really good ones but I won’t post more cause they are from a while back. I like this it though …

It Ain’t Me Babe

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

My friends from Harris Tweed were recording the day before yesterday so I went passed to hang out and just enjoy the studio and their company.

I had 3 ideas of the career I wanted to one day follow and these were photographer, sound engineer and chef. I even job shadowed Darryl for a bit and we were laughing cause if I had’ve carried on with sound engineering, Darryl would’ve been my REAL boss. However, I chose photography and I still have plenty to learn, but I do really enjoy music and the studio so much.

Anyway, I shot a whole bunch of photographs in the studio but for some reason I am having MAJOR problems today trying to convert the raw NEF files and it is going to drive me mad so I am just going to put these ones up for now. Haven’t shown the band yet so hopefully they will like them. I want to be in a band, or play music at least. It really must be the best thing. The Harris Tweed posse really inspires me a lot.

Good friends, good music, good fun, good times and a lot of talent and laughs. Check them out if you haven’t yet.
