Sunset with Dean Marais

Monday, June 9th, 2008

My chest has packed up as it always seems to do this time of the year so that means no skateboarding for me for a while. Its really not that fun and laying in bed really isn’t my best thing to do. Decided to use some of the time yesterday to shoot with Dean at Skateworld in Edenvale and I am so glad I did. We didn’t shoot too much because the sun sets super quick in winter and we only got there late. Anyway, these two photos are of Dean front blunting the yellow barrier I picked up a while back. His style is so so so good. Definitely going to shoot with him a lot more in the future and know this kid is going to make it big some day.Dean Marais front blunt on a barrier at skateworld in edenvale photographed by marcus maschwitzDean Marais front bluntslide at skateworld in edenvale photographed by marcus maschwitz

Session Issue 30

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

I shot an am’s article with Seth for the last issue of Session Skateboarding Magazine and now that it comes off shelf, I can post them on here. The first and second photographs were used in the article and then the third is just a sequence of his flip front board. The still is way nicer though.seth campbell kickflip frontside boardslide at skateworld in edenvale for session magazine photographed by marcus maschwitzPortrait of Seth Campbell for session magazine photographed by marcus maschwitzskateworld kickflip front board sequence photographed by marcus maschwitz

Set

I was shooting with Seth on saturday and we got some awesome stuff together. During the shoot though, there was one frame that I kept getting when he never landed the trick and I couldn’t stop laughing because it always looked like he was a crazy punk rocker guy trying to be a ninja break dancer. I kept a bunch of the stills and have put a few of them below. I hope you like.

Seth is a super good skateboarder and I love his style and the way he makes it looks so easy when he does it. I am hoping that the stuff will make it into the next session magazine but I will keep you posted on that.Seth Campbell skateboarding in edenvale johannesburg photographed by Marcus Maschwitz
