Going through some of the photographs that I have logged recently and forgot that I meant to post this a few weeks back. Sunsets are awesome.A Cloudy Sunset Over Johannesburg photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Wilderness Sunset

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

The main reason we went down to the Garden Route was because I am working on a project for an amazing guesthouse that is in the progress of starting up in Wilderness called iKhaya. This day the sunset was incredible and I am only going to post this one photograph now until everything for this client is complete as I don’t want to give away too much just yet.

On a different note, I tested out my new Nikon D3 camera a bit on this trip and am quite amazed by the results. Still getting used to it but so far I am extremely happy but again poor for a while.

Roadtripping to Woodstock

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007

I did a little road trip to Harrismith on saturday morning to shoot some band photographs at Woodstock 9. Unfortunately I had a work emergency that forced me to leave earlier than I had hoped so I never got to shoot most of the bands that I wanted to but work is work and I try my best to make sure that all my clients get the best service possible. Anyway, I shot this panoramic, of my car, on the way there and I really like it. I love that the road I am parked on is totally empty and the sky and the green fields. Hope everyone else had a good weekend.

The Tweeds

Friday, November 16th, 2007

I shot photos yesterday for my friends from the band Harris Tweed. I had an idea a while back for a shoot that I wanted to do with them but I have been so worried that it wouldn’t work out the way I had imagined. Anyway, yesterday we gave it a bash and I really like the results a lot. These are just a few of the favourites but there are a lot more that work well too. 12 November 2007

Monday, November 12th, 2007

For some reason the sunset has been amazing a few days in a row. It’s great but now I look like a sunset addict or something. Haha. I shot this about 5 minutes ago off the roof again and really love the way the clouds look and the sun rays.

On a different note, going to see NOFX now so hopefully I will sneak my camera in and be able to shoot some stuff to post tomorrow. Have a good evening. M

Sunset and Rain Panoramic

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

My buddy Alan smsed me this afternoon to tell me to have a look at the sunset. Funnily, I was already up on the roof shooting it. He is a videographer and we always let each other know when we see something amazing. So this photo is a panoramic I shot (17 photographs stitched together) of the sunset over Johannesburg with an amazing rainbow on the other side. It really was incredible and the size of the photo on here really does it no justice, but please click on it for the bigger image just to get a bit of an idea.

Wilderness Sky

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

I was shooting in Wilderness and Knysna over the weekend for a client but cannot show any of the stuff until it all goes out first. Anyway, I couldn’t believe that it was my first trip down there and I really think that it is the most beautiful side of South Africa I have ever seen. I shot this photo around lunch time on sunday directly into the sun just because I have a thing for the clouds and sky.

Flying home from George

Monday, November 5th, 2007

I was working in Wilderness / Knysna this weekend shooting for a new guesthouse that will be opening up this month called iKhaya Wilderness. It was my first time down there and it really is amazing. Anyway, I flew back today with Nationwide Airlines and it was the craziest Scenic flight I have ever had. I love flying. Here are 3 shots I took of us breaking through the stormy clouds with the sunset peaking through while ascending. The first two are between the clouds looking into the sun and the last one was taken as we were on top of the clouds with the sun shining under neath them. Johannesburg Sunset

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

The sunset tonight was really amazing over Johannesburg. I sadly wasn’t close enough to town to get the photo I would really have liked to shoot so this one will have to do. I just photographed it from my roof after getting a call from the misses to have a look.

Signal Hill

Monday, October 15th, 2007

For some reason the weather in Cape Town is always amazing when I am there. Friday was another day like that so we drove up to the top of Signal Hill just to enjoy the view and I shot these two photographs of a tree with some guinea fowl running free with the ocean in the background. I understand why tourists love it there.

Cloudy Sunset in Lakeside

Monday, October 15th, 2007

I shot these photographs during another shoot. I have this thing for sunsets and even more for clouds so I had to try and capture some of what was going on.

London Sunset

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

I am staying with my friends, Jude and Trysie, at their home in Colliers Wood in London and the day before yesterday was one of the nicest sunsets I have ever seen. I shot a few photos but don’t have my raw software with me so it’s not as nice as it can be.

Flying Nationwide

Friday, August 31st, 2007

I love flying so much. This is a photo I shot on wednesday night on the Nationwide Airlines flight I had to London.

Mauritius

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

I have again shot way too many photos from the trip but really wanted to put some up so I have randomly selected a few and these are them. Mauritius is beautiful and our trip was amazing. I will try post more when I get a gap but I have a lot to catch up right now.

In the Air

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

I have flown a lot of times and still get so excited every single time. Take off, landing, flying and everything else, it’s so mind blowing for me. I shot these two photos out the window on the way to Mauritius last week.

Autumn

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

I shot this photo a while back with another one I posted but then I read a magazine about Black and White photography and then I processed this one and really really liked it. Clouds and the sky are so amazing. Hope you like….

I Win

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

Wow, this never happens where two blogs in a row are of photographs of myself. Anyway, the reason for this one is because the sunsets in South Africa get amazing during this time of the year and I was racing home to get a shot tonight but I was unfortunately just that little bit too late. I thought that seeing as I was there, I had to shoot a shot while I just stood and enjoyed the last bit of daylight. I hate being the subject of photographs but this is alright cause I silhouetted myself so you cannot see my face. Going to bed now to try warm up. Is it cold-ish?

Till next time CT

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

I was in Cape Town again for the whole of last week and had an amazing time. My flight out was at 630am in the morning on sunday and I had to work until 430am the night before so basically packed my bags and got a lift straight to the airport. It was probably the most tired I have ever felt but the sunrise was amazing and made it all worth it. I hope you like this.

Cape Town

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

I went down to the West Coast for my birthday in 2005 and on my way to the airport, at something mad like 6am, I passed Blouberg Strand and saw this scene. It was awesome and really one of the nicest things I have ever seen. Only problem is that I never had my big lenses with me. I decided I had to shoot it wide so posed myself as the subject and used the camera’s timer to set it off. I love this shot. An amazing memory of a special place that I am growing to like more and more every time I go there. I hope this gives you the feeling that I get when I see it.

Goodbye Storm

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

It has been raining on and off (mostly on) for the passed few days and then yesterday it kind of all went away and the sky just looked so blue. How rad are clouds actually?

Revolution Warehouse Sunset

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

Last night we did a quick shoot in the Revolution Warehouse for the start of our skateboard tour that we are doing in the next few days. Anyway, the sunset there is always so beautiful and joburg just always looks so clean. I love it. Well, I shot these two photographs of the skyline with the sun from inside the warehouse through some fencing. I liked it.

Goodnight Day

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

I have decided to try and use a blog instead of my current site to show off the work I do, hoping that it will force me to update a lot more. Anyway, this weekend the sunsets here in Johannesburg were amazing and I was lucky to have seen them, let a lone shoot them. Here are some of the ones that I shot. I hope you enjoy them.
