Website Launch

Friday, November 13th, 2009

So I have been working like crazy lately which is a good thing but I hate that I have so much new work to show and no where to show it. I mean, I really liked the way my old website looked but it really just was too much distraction as apposed to just showing off the photographs. It’s always hard to think of the best way to showcase online because I do not like Flash based websites purely because I have seen so many people having issues using them and in the end I think I wanted to make sure that mine would be as user friendly as possible. The website I had also never allowed me to put the photos up at a decent size so with all this in mind I have created a new one from scratch and although I am still filtering through photographs and updating the content, there is a good amount up so that I can release it.

If you have a chance, make sure to check out www.marcusmaschwitz.co.uk and have a look. As I said I am still busy uploading content so keep checking back.

This is a screen grab of the home page, hope you like.

Autumn Sunset Cycle

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

I was having one of those days where nothing involved with technology was working how it should and the delays and frustration were getting my really mad and I was ready to punch my poor Mactizzy screen (“sorry my baby”). I decided that if I carried on trying to make things work I would lose it so I shut down and went for a bike ride only to have a super relaxing time with much enjoyment and returning to everything working as it should.

It was sunset and I really love how everything looks at this time of year (Autumn). I know that a lot of people find it easy to moan that it gets cold but I love just enjoying what I can out of it and definitely think that this is my best time of the year. The colours around are SO rich and I had to stop many times to take it all in.

Anyway, I shot a few photos and these are them. They do very little justice of what the experience was like and I will be going back on that same route soon with my big camera to see if I can do a bit better. Sometimes though it is just nice to document an experience.

Late Night Sunsets this Week

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

Ok, so I feel really bad that I haven’t updated this blog in a LONG while but things have just been really crazy here and I have spent all my spare time updating / upgrading my actual photography website as well as sorting out Myspace‘s and then trying to live and enjoy some time with my beautiful misses.

Anyway, I haven’t forgotten about this and I haven’t not been shooting, it’s just how it goes some times but now that I get closer to the final stages of personal website updating, I am making it a listed thing to make sure to spend time on here so look out for a bunch of catch up posts REAL soon as well as a bunch of new posts. I have put together a list of personal assignment shoots that I want to do in the next few months and these will obviously all go on here as I go along.

Other than that, I hope you are all well and that you will enjoy these two photographs that I shot while working in the last week. Both of them were taken around 21h00 / 21h30 during sunset. It’s so cool that the days last so long.

Keep well and thanks for all the mails supporting me while all these big changes go through. It’s an exciting time for me for sure and I am REALLY starting to push myself more than I ever have.

Thanks also for reading. Marcus

Holga 35mm

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

So, my site is still not completely finished which really is getting me down but that is how life goes some times and although I really want to update it with content and save my latest images for that, I have decided to post some personal experimental images that I have been shooting in my free time that isn’t part of the commissioned work that I do but definitely still as fun for me.

I have a lot that needs to be processed (physically and not digitally) and will post more as they come but for now here are 5 images that I shot with my Holga 35mm plastic lens camera that my wife bought me for this passed Christmas. It’s super cool looking and really has a fun feel to it but I really battle to shoot with something that doesn’t allow me to control exposure so instead I find myself using other means to get by this. These photos are mostly of the sky on a cloudy / rainy day about 2 weeks back and then a portrait of my good friends and wife that I shot in a tiny road off of Brick Lane.

Sun Fun in Hyde Park

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

Today we (my misses and I) had a super fun day out in the sun at Hyde Park with our good friends Warren and Andrea. It was really a relaxing time and we just spent the afternoon having a picnic and enjoying the outdoors and talking and getting lazy. Warren has recently bought himself a camera to play with so I brought mine along in case we got some time to shoot photos together and I ended up shooting some fun snaps of the group at sunset which is now peaking at around 8:15pm. I had very little gear with me but I made do with what I had and think that some really cool moments have been captured here. I did make a rookie school boy mistake and shot only in JPEG for some weird unknown reason so I have decided not to do any post work on these except for resizing. We were just playing the fool and some of them are slightly incorrectly exposed because of the light being moved over or aimed in the wrong direction but I like them and would really like to know what you think so comment if you have the time.

I hope you are all well. Marcus

Point 7 Nanniversary in Brighton

Monday, April 13th, 2009

Today was the 7th month anniversary since my lady and I got married. I know it may seem silly to celebrate the monthly’s but we are so excited on each other and it keeps us happy and going. Anyway, today we came to the beach and just enjoyed another really special and fun day in the sun together. I also decided to shoot a few photographs of us playing the fool and it ended up being quite a laugh.

These are just a few of the photographs that we took together. I hope you all had a good weekend and that the short week flies by for you all. M

Sunset

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

We were driving back from the store a few minutes ago and the sunset is amazing so I had to shoot a photograph of it from our bedroom window as soon as we got back. I love the streams that the aircrafts leave in the sky.

I hope that everyone reading this is well.

Sunset over the Thames

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

I spent sunset today walking over the Waterloo Bridge and taking it all in. I love the London skylines and this is definitely one of my favourite, with the view of the London Eye, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament and the River. I have always wanted to shoot some good photographs but my time has always been limited so I have promised myself that I will be pulling finger from now on. I shot this photo today and am quite happy with it, it isn’t what I had in mind but I will make sure to keep scouting for that perfect day.

I hope that you are all well and that 2009 is treating you well so far. M

Happy New Year

Monday, January 5th, 2009

We flew out of South Africa on New Years Eve and it was a really good flight. Emirates rules on the entertainment side and it makes the flight feel really short.

Anyway, we have arrived in London safely are are both really excited. LOTS to do but we are cracking already. Hold thumbs and all the best for the new year ahead. Thank you to everyone for your warm wishes.

More of Rudi and Sarah

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I have had a lot of good response from the photographs that I shot of Rudi and Sarah so I thought I would put a few more up. It was really a special day and I feel proud to have been able to capture some of their special day. They are on honeymoon now so I hope that they are having the best time ever.

Hope all of you are having a good week.

Marcus

Sunset Construction

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

There is a photograph that I have been wanting to shoot for months now but every single time that I go to shoot it, there are a bunch of drunk trouble makers that really do not want me to be there so I end up leaving with no photo at all (one of the joys of living in South Africa). Yesterday I tried to go back and the same thing happened so I ended up driving to a construction site nearby to shoot some photographs of the sunset because it really was so beautiful and weird.

I have 4 sunsets left in South Africa before we make our move to the UK and I am really hoping that I will be able to get the shot before I leave so hold thumbs.

Other than that, I hope that all of you have had a good Christmas with your loved ones and that you are all getting some rest.

Chat soon, Marcus

Kruger Heaven

Monday, December 15th, 2008

As I keep mentioning, we are moving to the UK at the end of this month and I decided to take my misses to the Kruger National Park for 8 nights to go and enjoy what Africa is all about and shoot some photographs and really just relax. It is ALWAYS the best time.

These are a few of the photographs. I shot about 900 and do not have time to sort through them so am just uploading these for now. I know I have a bunch of better ones and some really amazing sunsets and skies but I just wanted to get something up.

Hope you are all well and getting excited about the Christmas time.

Keep well as always, Marcus

Sunset Panoramic

Monday, November 17th, 2008

I said earlier today that I would try and post the panoramic I shot during sunset so here it is. I photographed it with my 50mm and the total picture is stitched from 42 still photographs.

Please click it to view the image larger because that is the only way to appreciate it.

Crazy Sunset

Monday, November 17th, 2008

As anyone who follows my work will know, I have a thing for sunsets and they sky and clouds. I nag my poor wife everyday to look at the sky and I can see her expression everytime. Today though, I felt like I should really make sure she looks and she agreed, it really was one of the best skies I have ever seen before. If only we were in the bush or something. Anyway, I shot these 4 photographs of the sunset as well as a super cool panoramic which I will post when I have stitched it.

Have a super week, Marcus

Sunset in Muldersdrift

Monday, August 4th, 2008

I shot some photographs with my friend Nick on friday afternoon at his compound in Muldersdrift and the sunset was awesome. I shot these two photos just because I thought they looked good. I will post some of him riding now.

Johannesburg Skyline

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

I shot this skyline of Johannesburg the other day from the rooftop of my friends building during sunset. I was busy with a shoot and saw this and ran up to catch a shot. The sun goes down super quickly in winter though.

You can read up more about this image and purchase it by clicking here.

African Bush Adventures

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Ok, I have to admit that I have been slack and that these photographs should have been up ages ago. It’s just been ridiculously busy here and I am trying to save for a wedding so please excuse me. Haha.

I am still busy but just missing this getaway so much so took a bit of time to do this post. Basically, Anja and I hit the Kruger Park last month for my birthday and it was one of the most super holidays I have ever had. I loved it. I loved the bush. I loved the animals. I loved where we stayed. I loved shooting photos. I loved relaxing. I loved being with my girl. I loved that she got to relax and I loved being werry werry quite. Haha.

These aren’t the best ones cause I don’t really have time so I randomly selected some from the 2500ish photos that I shot. Either way, seeing them just makes me want to be back there right now.

Hope you are all well.

12 November 2007

Monday, November 12th, 2007

For some reason the sunset has been amazing a few days in a row. It’s great but now I look like a sunset addict or something. Haha. I shot this about 5 minutes ago off the roof again and really love the way the clouds look and the sun rays.

On a different note, going to see NOFX now so hopefully I will sneak my camera in and be able to shoot some stuff to post tomorrow. Have a good evening. M

Sunset and Rain Panoramic

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

My buddy Alan smsed me this afternoon to tell me to have a look at the sunset. Funnily, I was already up on the roof shooting it. He is a videographer and we always let each other know when we see something amazing. So this photo is a panoramic I shot (17 photographs stitched together) of the sunset over Johannesburg with an amazing rainbow on the other side. It really was incredible and the size of the photo on here really does it no justice, but please click on it for the bigger image just to get a bit of an idea.

Johannesburg Sunset

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

The sunset tonight was really amazing over Johannesburg. I sadly wasn’t close enough to town to get the photo I would really have liked to shoot so this one will have to do. I just photographed it from my roof after getting a call from the misses to have a look.
