First test shot with my 38mm Diana F+ lens

Friday, April 30th, 2010

It was my birthday this week and my misses got me the Diana F+ Lens Adaptor for my Baby along with the Diana+ 38mm Plastic Lens which is super cool because I have wanted the kit for ages.

Today I ran out to meet her for a quick lunch and decided to give it the first test although the sky was super boring so I only really took a few shots. I battle to shoot if it just looks crap. Haha. This is one that I kind of like of Southwark Cathedral. I found it quite difficult to see if the image was in focus or not but I guess that is the joys of shooting with plastic. The aperture for the lens is locked on F3.5 and this images was taken at 1/1000th at ISO800 to give it a bit of grain although you cannot really see that in this low res photo.

The image is straight from my camera without processing or editing and just a quick resize and watermark. Cannot wait to use this on a sunny day and experiment with some Profoto Lighting.

Diana Plastic Lens Mount for Nikon

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

As most of you will know I have been a big fan of messing around with old vintage cameras as well as lomo cameras to create different images that are really hard to duplicate with the best technology … raw images if you will.

Anyway, I have always wished that I could use the lomo format or atleast produce similar images with my D3 but only now just found out that you can purchase an F-Mount kit for Nikon and Canon cameras so that you can mount the Diana range of plastic lenses with ease. I haven’t yet used the system but am really considering it and wondered if anyone else has explored this system and if you had any thoughts. If not, that’s alright too, keep posted and I will add a few of the images as soon as I have shot some. I know I am probably going to buy it soon.

Other than that, I hope you are all well. Marcus

Holga 35mm

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

So, my site is still not completely finished which really is getting me down but that is how life goes some times and although I really want to update it with content and save my latest images for that, I have decided to post some personal experimental images that I have been shooting in my free time that isn’t part of the commissioned work that I do but definitely still as fun for me.

I have a lot that needs to be processed (physically and not digitally) and will post more as they come but for now here are 5 images that I shot with my Holga 35mm plastic lens camera that my wife bought me for this passed Christmas. It’s super cool looking and really has a fun feel to it but I really battle to shoot with something that doesn’t allow me to control exposure so instead I find myself using other means to get by this. These photos are mostly of the sky on a cloudy / rainy day about 2 weeks back and then a portrait of my good friends and wife that I shot in a tiny road off of Brick Lane.

My Veronica is for Sale

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

As most of you know already, Anja (my wife) and I are moving to the UK for a permanent while next month and we are really excited at the opportunities that already exist for us. Unfortunately we cannot take everything with us so we have to get rid of some of our really special stuff and that is what this post is about. My poor Veronica (quad bike) needs to find a new owner and she has been cleaned up and taken to a store and is currently for sale. She has been the best and most fun bike / quad I have ever had and I am really sad to get rid of her but it would just be a huge waste to leave her in the garage to grow old. I am letting her go for a good price to make the sale quick so if any of you are looking for a quad, please keep her in mind because she needs a good owner.

Click here for her advert on Bike and Quad Mart or go and see her at Bikes Galore at 93 Van Riebeeck Avenue in Edenvale.

Lomo Livings

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

I have been shooting quite a few photographs with my lomo cameras to play around and really love the way that they come out. I had a bunch processed yesterday and thought that I should post these three of us driving because they are my favourite. Explore lomo photography if you haven’t, it’s really fun and anyone will love the results.

I shot these with a Lomo Supersampler.
