Senses Fail

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Yesterday I shot a few portraits with Senses Fail as well as a few during their live set and it was an all round good time. Always a pleasure meeting decent people in the music industry.

I will update and add links to the magazine review and interview when they go live so check this post again soon.

In the mean time, here are a few photographs during the time I spent with them. To see more you can visit my Band Photography Blog. Hope you well. Marcus

Give It A Name 2009 Day 2

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Last night was the last day of Give It A Name 2009 and it was the best night of the two. I photographed Thursday, Underoath and Taking Back Sunday and all in all it was a super night. I have to say again that the lighting really was weird and by weird I mean (not good). Not only as a photographer but as a fan, I didn’t understand how all the lighting was focused between the front guys and the drummer and that there were no front lights so every one was a silhouette. Never before have I seen a setup like this, not even at a super small club where they only have 5 lights at their disposal. Anyway, I appreciated the fact that I was working with a D3 so that I could atleast boost the ISO up a little more than I ever have.

These are a few of the shots that I took during the day. If you want to see more, have a look at my Band Blog by CLICKING HERE.

Have a super day and week. Marcus

Give It A Name 2009 Day 1

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Last night I photographed The Blackout (black and white photos) and Give It A Name which was at the Brixton Academy. It was the first night of two and a super night out. I am most excited about sunday though but these are a few of the photographs I shot already. If you want to see more, click here to see my Band Blog.

The lighting was quite hard to work with because the stage is mostly back-lit and I don’t really enjoy shooting in that condition but I made do with what was available and feel there are some good shots.

Bloc Party

Monday, April 13th, 2009

Last night I photographed Bloc Party which was really amazing. When we moved to London just over 3 months ago I bought tickets for the Wife and I to go because it is one of her most favourite bands. I didn’t think that 3 months later I would be commissioned to go and shoot the show so it was an absolute honour and I gave my ticket to our sister and the 3 of us went to party.

They were amazing and so super humble and that makes me like them even more. I love it so much when bands remember where they came from and thank their listeners for getting them to where they are because without them bands would never get big. These are a few of the photographs that I shot during the show, I have a whole lot more and will try sort through them later and try add a few more if I get a chance. In the meantime enjoy these and if you would like to see some more, you can do so by visiting my Music Photography Blog by Clicking HERE.

Have a super day and keep well. Marcus

Night at the Royal Abert Hall

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

On saturday night I photographed two really amazing bands at The Royal Albert Hall, being Bullet for my Valentine and Fightstar. The event was in aid to raise money for a really cool charity, Teenage Cancer Trust and I really hope that it went well for them and that they received the support that they were hoping for.

This was super fun job to work on and I met some really nice people that I hope to see and / work with again. I have to also add that The Royal Albert Hall is one of the most amazing venues I have ever been to and probably the best live venue if I really think about it.

Here are a few of the photographs that I shot on the evening. To see more visit my music blog on www.londonbandphotography.co.uk
