DIOYY shoe for Macbeth

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

The guys from Does It Offend You, Yeah? worked on a studio project with Macbeth on their own Pendleton shoe which comes out pretty soon. I photographed the campaign and Macbeth have just released a teaser shot of the shoe so I thought I would share it. Amazing band and great company … check them both out.

Another Criminal Damage

Friday, July 29th, 2011

I’ve been shooting loads at Criminal Damage over the last few days, because the new range is HUGE, and it’s been some good times.

They having a special this weekend and used one of the photos I shot with Grant. Take advantage of the deal.

New Criminal Damage Advert

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

I work with the guys over at Criminal Damage a lot and the deadlines are always crazy but it is most times a good catch up and rad day out.

They put together and advert for Drapers Magazine to push their Twisted Heritage range. I thought I would share.

Check these guys out, they have some really sweet pieces in the new range.

Criminal Damage Guys Range

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

I work a lot with the guys at Criminal Damage and they have just released the Mens Spring / Summer Range for 2011.

It’s about 95 pages long so thought I would just post the first three. It’s always good working with them.

Just busy going through the tear sheets that I have been sent and there is another really cool one from a shoot I did for Criminal Damage with Ryan Stripe of the band Rio.

This is it.

Atticus / WATO / Marcus Collab Tee

Monday, October 25th, 2010

The guys from Atticus have put together a collaboration tee with We Are The Ocean using three of my photos that I shot with the guys while they were in the recording studio. I love how it looks and it just came out today so Dan sported it at their London show.

It will be available in-store shortly.

Triumph Ace Cafe Racer Brochure

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

A while ago I was commissioned to shoot images of a beautiful bike for its marketing brochure. The bike is the Limited Edition T3 Triumph “Ace 904 Thruxton Special” Ace Cafe Racer and was custom built by Tony Scott of T3 Racing. The client wanted the images of the bike to match the style of a shoot they saw with one of the bands that I work with so they gave me free reign to shoot how I thought would work.

We decided it appropriate to shoot at the Ace Cafe London as they are marketing and selling the bike. It was a good shoot on a really bright sunny day and we achieved some great images to work with.

Below is a few image grabs from the brochure where my photos have been used.

Dead Heroes Feature in Front Magazine

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

I work with the guys from Young Guns quite a lot and it’s always a good time for me. Gustav is their front man and he is currently endorsed by Dead Heroes Clothing which is the brainchild of Mike from the band Lostprophets. Anyway, I shot a photo of Gus wearing one of the new range tees and the guys from Front Magazine used it in a feature. This is the page.

KFD Tattoo Series

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

Over the years I have worked really closely with the guys from KFD Skateboards and it has always been a really good time. Recently I was contacted by a designer from California named Quoc Lu as he was wanting to build up his portfolio to break into the action sports scene and he used 3 of my photographs to put together an ad campaign for his portfolio.

I almost forgot about it and then he sent me back these three images which I really like. He did some research on the product and used the Tattoo Series as his basis for the ads and I thought I would post them because I also really love these 3 photographs that I shot of the guys.

Website Launch

Friday, November 13th, 2009

So I have been working like crazy lately which is a good thing but I hate that I have so much new work to show and no where to show it. I mean, I really liked the way my old website looked but it really just was too much distraction as apposed to just showing off the photographs. It’s always hard to think of the best way to showcase online because I do not like Flash based websites purely because I have seen so many people having issues using them and in the end I think I wanted to make sure that mine would be as user friendly as possible. The website I had also never allowed me to put the photos up at a decent size so with all this in mind I have created a new one from scratch and although I am still filtering through photographs and updating the content, there is a good amount up so that I can release it.

If you have a chance, make sure to check out www.marcusmaschwitz.co.uk and have a look. As I said I am still busy uploading content so keep checking back.

This is a screen grab of the home page, hope you like.

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

I just got an MMS from one of the guys at Criminal Damage with a pic of a full page advert that I shot for them that is currently in Drapers Magazine. The two models are Natalie McQueen from Farewell City and Alfie Scully from We Are The Ocean, both super cool bands.

This is the photo. I hope you are all well. M

Criminal Damage POS

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

I shot a bunch of stuff for the guys at Criminal Damage the other day for them to use in some up and coming adverts and point of sale (POS) marketing material. It is pretty standard and pretty plain in a white studio with a few members from bands that they support so it’s really not like the normal stuff I shoot but I had a good time working with the guys (and girl). These are a few of the photographs from the shoot so you can get an idea of what they were looking for. There are currently a few different full page adverts running in several magazines including this months Front and Drapers so be on the lookout for them. I will do my best to upload some of the tearsheets shortly as soon as I get more of them.

Featured in the images below are Jake Robbins (Out Of Sight), Ben Husted (Out Of Sight), Natalie McQueen (Farewell City) and Alfie Scully (We Are The Ocean). All very cool bands worth checking out.

If you have the time, be sure to check out some of my band photography on www.londonbandphotography.co.uk or my photography portfolio on www.marcusmaschwitz.co.uk

Criminal Damage Clothing Line

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Last week I photographed some of the new Criminal Damage clothing line to be used for marketing images. We were really rushed for time so it was all a little chaotic but I photographed the models on a white screen and they used the images to create the artwork they were needing. They have just sent me this one which is a 9m wall that they are using to decorate their stand at a trade show in Germany this week. I like it and look forward to working with them again next month.

Meems Jewellery

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Last week I photographed some really nice jewellery pieces for a company called Meems and I really had a good time working with the friendly people that make the company. These are just a few pieces of the recent collection. I am shooting a few new ones in the next week so i will add them when I am done.

I hope that you are all well. Sorry for not updating in a while. Been really busy and finding it hard to make time for myself but it will come back soon. Marcus

Olive Garden Lunch

Monday, November 10th, 2008

I shot some photographs just a few weeks back for my client Indulge as they have now opened their restaurant in Rivonia and it is really amazing. I had a lot going during the time of this shoot with my wedding and actually haven’t really looked at them until now. I thought it would be cool to post the first 2 photos that I shot of a food setup in an olive garden and then 2 photos that Sarah photographed with me in them. Funny thing.

Sunny Cake

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

I shot a few more photographs today with the good people from Indulge that they are going to be using to print big posters that will be displayed in their new store opening later this month.

I shot this one for myself of the cake in the sun cause I thought it looked nice. Haha.

Indulge in Cakes

Monday, April 14th, 2008

I am busy working on a project for a new confectionery boutique that is opening up in Rivonia in the next month and a bit and the owners are really awesome. The company is called Indulge and they will specialize in wedding cakes and good confectionery as well as have a coffee shop to just sit and relax. I photographed a selection of their wedding cake options over the last week and I really was shocked at how amazing they were. I am just uploading 2 photographs as I am still busy logging them.

Indulge is coming soon, look out for them.Indulge confectionery boutique is opening up in Rivonia and specializes in exclusive wedding cakes photographed by Marcus MaschwitzIndulge confectionery boutique is opening up in Rivonia and specializes in exclusive wedding cakes photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Piano Man

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Today we filmed and produced a music video for one of our corporate clients through our side company, Melon Videos. It was a super fun day and I shot a bunch of photographs that I really like but this is one of my favourites.

I hope you are all well. MKeith Lansom playing the piano photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Lomography.co.za

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

I was given a Lomo Fisheye camera for Christmas from Uncle Rudi and haven’t really had time to play around with it yet until now. What a super cool little camera though. I have been wanting one for ages and it was so exciting collecting my prints today. Anyway, I have created another blog for my lomography pictures and you can see it at www.lomography.co.za. Hope you enjoy.Lomography blog introductions

My New Baby

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Ok, everyone knew that this post was coming and I couldn’t resist. I used my D200 to shoot a photo of my new baby so ….. Please allow me this opportunity to introduce her. Isn’t she lovely. Hahaha

Sunset at iKhaya Wilderness

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

I am busy working through the photographs I shot earlier this month at my clients guest house that is opening up soon in Wilderness. The place is going to be called iKhaya and like I said before, I cannot give away too much before the site goes live but I couldn’t wait to post some images of the sunset that we experienced on our first day there. These two were taken with in about two hours of each other and right now the only problem I see is that I am not there right now enjoying that view but instead sitting in my office. Awesome. iKhaya Wilderness is amazing and I will let you know when the site goes live because you have to check it out.

I just want to add that my D3 is a beast. I love her. Haha

Wilderness Sunset

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

The main reason we went down to the Garden Route was because I am working on a project for an amazing guesthouse that is in the progress of starting up in Wilderness called iKhaya. This day the sunset was incredible and I am only going to post this one photograph now until everything for this client is complete as I don’t want to give away too much just yet.

On a different note, I tested out my new Nikon D3 camera a bit on this trip and am quite amazed by the results. Still getting used to it but so far I am extremely happy but again poor for a while.

Soviet Jeans

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

It has been a while but I shot a few photographs for Soviet today that they are going to use for an in-store banner. They are working on it quite a lot to make it look old and rugged but I thought I would post one of the ones I liked the most.Authentic Soviet Jeans worn by Nicole De Sousa for a Soviet instore banner photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Cindy Nell

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

I shot these photographs a really long time ago of Cindy Nell shooting for a music video. I really forgot about them and was backing up my drives today and saw them and wanted to post these two cause I thought they were quite cool. I never ever saw the music video but it was for a local artist named Llewellyn or something like that.Cindy Nell, former Miss South Africa, during a video shoot photographed by Marcus MaschwitzCindy Nell, former Miss South Africa, during a video shoot photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Cross

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

This is from quite a long time ago but it is kind of cool. I shot it on an old film camera that I bought from hospice and scanned the slide on my crappy home scanner. Colours are way off but it works for me.A Mexican Cross on a wall photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Mr Jack Skellington

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

I have a ton of toys / figurines but my most favourite are the ones from the movies made by Tim Burton. There was bad lightning today and I didn’t want my computer to get hit so I unplugged it and decided to shoot photographs instead. This one is a portrait of Jack Skellington.

Sandton in Lomo

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

I have always been interested in lomography but for some reason I haven’t purchased a camera of theirs yet to try it out. I will some day but for now I thought I would just try and process to create a similar feel. I was shooting for a client last night and when I got to the location, the sunset over Sandton City was really amazing so I thought it would be a good place to try my idea out. I shot with a fisheye and processed the photo the way I thought it would look, not sure if I am right or not but I like it.
