Sunset

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

We were driving back from the store a few minutes ago and the sunset is amazing so I had to shoot a photograph of it from our bedroom window as soon as we got back. I love the streams that the aircrafts leave in the sky.

I hope that everyone reading this is well.

Alkaline Trio

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

I shot photographs with Alkaline Trio last night and it was again a super show. I really like them live and feel they give a really good performance. Because they are quite a dark band, the lighting is mostly back lit and because you cannot use flash with bands like this, it makes it quite hard to shoot the way I would normally like (especially without smoke). For this reason I opted to shoot dark images and this is the result. Not as nice as I would’ve usually been able to get but I like them. I did shoot for a magazine so I cannot show any of the other stuff until the issue comes out but I had to post something because I have been getting mails asking about these.

After many emails I have also decided to post my images a little bigger so you will see that this has started with this post. Hopefully that will help you see better.

I hope you are all well. Marcus

Dear Reader Portraits

Monday, February 9th, 2009

My friends from Dear Reader are in Europe now busy touring the launch of their new album which is amazing (heard in studio during the recording process) and I am so excited for them. I shot some portraits of them back in South Africa before I left and they came out quite nice. I don’t want to give away too much as they haven’t been published yet so these are 5 that I like quite a lot.

They are super cool and are going to be in London for a few days next month so we will doing a shoot in and around London Town. Exciting.

Please keep an ear out for them and support them if you do.

Keli and Nilx

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Wow, I have never posted this much in such a short time before ever. I just love the snow. I think I love it more than any child ever has before. I have spent the entire day making snow angels, building snow men, walking around, riding and crashing bicycles into the snow, having snow fights, burying myself and just having fun everyone in the Close that Nilx and Keli live in. It’s really beautiful here and I feel like we are in a dream land. I am sure that the idea of snow will ware off but for now I am going to keep taking it all in and enjoy it. Snow is forecast quite a lot for the rest of this week and it is still belting down so I am really excited. Yay.

These 2 photographs are of Nilx and Keli who are our special friends that have made it so easy for us to relocate to a new country. It’s been amazing spending so much time with them and enjoying their company. They have been so good to us and are so good to us and I hope that one day I can give something back to them to say thank you for everything. I love these pictures of them that I took while we were walking to go have lunch at the neighbours.

Snow Pano

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

I just took a walk down to the park by our house to photograph a panoramic. The snow is still belting down a lot so I will go shoot more a bit later when the snow is thicker. I love the snow.

This photograph is about 270 degrees composed of 21 photographs. Click on the image to see it a bit bigger, it might be easier to appreciate like that.

Our Car in Snow

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

We bought ourselves a car this week and it’s really cool. It’s a black Ford Focus and I shot this photograph of it now in the drive way while it is snowing. It’s the middle of the night and the sky is so bright and yellow and I shot this freehand with only natural light. It isn’t the most amazing photograph but I am really excited by it.

29 Year Old Beauty

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

Today was my lady’s birthday and it is her first one with us being a married couple. We had such a fun day together in London with good friends celebrating Chinese New Year with the hordes of people. It was snowing out too which got me really excited and all round it was an awesome day.

I shot these photographs of Anja standing with her balloon and presents in front of a white wall. The sun had pretty much gone already by then so I shot her with my 50mm lens at f1.8. I love them.
