WOW, I found this while backing up my hard drive and I forgot how much I love it. This is my friend Warren and I shot some photographs of him the day before he moved across the world just over a year ago. It was purely for fun and a way that we could spend time together but now after a year we live really close together (we also have moved) and spending time with him now makes me remember exactly how fun he is. This photo sums up what it’s like when we hang out. Funny.
Also, as you might have noticed, my photographs now have a black border when I post them. This is to match my portfolio that goes out to clients. I hope you like it.
Going shooting this weekend so will be sure to post some new stuff after the weekend. Been really busy here which is good and super exciting. Hope you are all well. Marcus

Today was a super fun day. I worked with Kristopher Roe which is really exciting for me after only being in London for a short while. Kris is a photographer and amazing singer, song writer and front man of the band The Ataris and he is currently playing some acoustic shows in the UK and through out Europe. Having loved his music since back in the day, I was really overwhelmed and nervous to work with him today but we met up this afternoon and his humbleness made it really easy for me to be calm and besides having a good time taking photographs, it was really good just catching up with him and chatting about photography, music, life and their tour to South Africa in May (yes they are really coming).
Anyway, to cut this long story short, I shot a few portraits while walking around and these are just a few of them as well as some live ones of his show which was really good.

I have been shopping for some needed and some new bits and ends for my work bag and I am as happy as a little child again. I had to leave a lot of stuff back in South Africa when we moved here to the UK so I have had to replace a lot of things as well as spoil myself for the hell of it. Haha.
One of my purchases include a ring flash that I have been wanting for ages now and I haven’t had time to shoot with it properly yet except for making my misses stand outside on our balcony with her umbrella for 2 minutes. I really like the way it works but will need to get used to holding my camera with it on as it already weighs 50000 kilograms. I am super excited though and have a bunch of ideas flowing in my head already. Going to be shooting with it on friday and will post the photographs as soon as I can.
Things here are going really good so far and I am really really getting excited at the possibilities of living out some of my dreams here.
I hope you are all well and promise to keep this more up to date from now on. It’s just been a bit busy here settling in. Chat soon, Marcus

I have just moved to the UK and wanted to step it up a notch and really try concentrate on myself and my photography work for a while. That is the plan for a while and I have some projects in my head that I want to work on in my free time and really push myself to move up to a new level and work on projects that I really love and have interest in.
My friend Jon helped me create a bit of an identity and I love the work that he did for me. He designed a logo for me as well as business cards that I have just actually had delivered and I love them. This is the front and the back of the card and I have a bunch of really other amazing elements that I am working on that will be out in a while. I just wanted to show you my card.
I hope you are all well. Chat soon, Marcus

I spent sunset today walking over the Waterloo Bridge and taking it all in. I love the London skylines and this is definitely one of my favourite, with the view of the London Eye, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament and the River. I have always wanted to shoot some good photographs but my time has always been limited so I have promised myself that I will be pulling finger from now on. I shot this photo today and am quite happy with it, it isn’t what I had in mind but I will make sure to keep scouting for that perfect day.
I hope that you are all well and that 2009 is treating you well so far. M

Today I spent the day walking around Camden Town with my lady and as always, it was a fun time with her. The weather was good and there was a lot of people out. I shot this photo, just because it makes me so excited every time I see that from the road and I know we are walking in the right direction. Haha.

I spent a few hours today at the Annie Leibovitz exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery and it was really exciting and inspiring for me. I felt this even more than when I watch her documentary a few months back. The thing is that for some reason her work REALLY gets me thinking and I love her for that. The exhibition was really cool because it included some of her best and strongest works as well as some of her personal collection of images that she has taken of family and friends at home and on holiday and I love that they did it this way.
Annie makes use of HUGE budgets when shooting commissioned works and then very little when just shooting on her own steam and I cannot say which I preferred. All I do know is that she makes me want to rethink about everything again and try to not just think of big scenes that we can create in a studio like environment, but to also remember to just document and capture what is really going on. Big budgets aren’t always necessary although we do know that they are fun. Haha.
Anyway, I wasn’t obviously allowed to shoot in the exhibition so I tried to be sneaky and just get a shot for my collection so one day I will remember I made the show. This is that shot, it’s nothing great but it has a good memory for me.
I hope you are all well and getting back into the working way of things.
Regards as always, Marcus

We will be staying with our friends, Nik and Keli, for a while so that we can find our feet and I shot some photographs at the station yesterday while we made our way into London Town for the day. The weather is PROPER cold but it really feels good to snuggle up all warm. These are just a few photographs. Might be quiet until I sort all my gear out again.

We flew out of South Africa on New Years Eve and it was a really good flight. Emirates rules on the entertainment side and it makes the flight feel really short.
Anyway, we have arrived in London safely are are both really excited. LOTS to do but we are cracking already. Hold thumbs and all the best for the new year ahead. Thank you to everyone for your warm wishes.
