Dear Reader in Coat

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I shot new photographs with the Dear Reader crew last week and as always it was really natural and fun working with them. I am moving to the UK tomorrow and my plate is completely FULL so I will only be able to work on these later but I thought that I would just upload one while I was sorting out my hard drive and making sure everything is backed up.

I cannot wait for their album to come out. Check them out if you haven’t already.

More of Rudi and Sarah

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I have had a lot of good response from the photographs that I shot of Rudi and Sarah so I thought I would put a few more up. It was really a special day and I feel proud to have been able to capture some of their special day. They are on honeymoon now so I hope that they are having the best time ever.

Hope all of you are having a good week.

Marcus

Sunset Construction

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

There is a photograph that I have been wanting to shoot for months now but every single time that I go to shoot it, there are a bunch of drunk trouble makers that really do not want me to be there so I end up leaving with no photo at all (one of the joys of living in South Africa). Yesterday I tried to go back and the same thing happened so I ended up driving to a construction site nearby to shoot some photographs of the sunset because it really was so beautiful and weird.

I have 4 sunsets left in South Africa before we make our move to the UK and I am really hoping that I will be able to get the shot before I leave so hold thumbs.

Other than that, I hope that all of you have had a good Christmas with your loved ones and that you are all getting some rest.

Chat soon, Marcus

The Eric

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

My friend Eric plays for the band Swivel Foot and he is a super cool guy. I have wanted to shoot with him for a while but it has always just been so busy and life carries on. We are leaving for the UK in a few days so I decided that we had to do this so we went to New Town this morning to shoot a few pics and then go for breakfast. Was a good time.

These are a few of the photos that I shot. Hope you are all well and getting into the holiday spirit. I love Christmas time.

Have a good week. Marcus

The New Jeggles

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

I photographed a wedding yesterday for Rudi and Sarah and it was super amazing. I really love the pictures that I shot and it was really easy to work with them. I have to run out today to do some errands but had to quickly back up the photos that I shot and thought I would quickly just post one to congratulate the two of them and wish them all the best in their new lives together.

I will be posting a few more of their day when I get a chance. Have a super weekend. Marcus

Kruger Heaven

Monday, December 15th, 2008

As I keep mentioning, we are moving to the UK at the end of this month and I decided to take my misses to the Kruger National Park for 8 nights to go and enjoy what Africa is all about and shoot some photographs and really just relax. It is ALWAYS the best time.

These are a few of the photographs. I shot about 900 and do not have time to sort through them so am just uploading these for now. I know I have a bunch of better ones and some really amazing sunsets and skies but I just wanted to get something up.

Hope you are all well and getting excited about the Christmas time.

Keep well as always, Marcus

Oxymoron Actual Video

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

I just arrived back from the Kruger National Park (photographs up shortly) and I had the best time ever with my misses.

We have received some amazing feedback for the Zebra and Giraffe – Oxymoron music video that we created and I thought that I would post the video up for you have a look at. The quality is really not that good on this version so if you have DSL, please follow THIS LINK and then click to see the high quality version (bottom right of video).

Have a super day as always, Marcus

Zebra and Giraffe Music Video Launch

Monday, December 8th, 2008

Today is a super exciting day for myself as the music video for Zebra and Giraffes 3rd single, Oxymoron, is released. The video was created by myself, Alan Shenton and Greg (band creator and frontman).

Basically the video was photographed by myself at 5 and 10 frames per second using the Nikon D3 DSLR and then the 39 000+ photographs were narrowed down and about 15 000 of them were individually graded and then edited at Melon Videos resulting in a FULL HD music video with a “jolty” feel to match the song (which I have to admit has grown on me more and more even though I was already a fan).

The press release as well as the music video itself is available to view on the Zebra and Giraffe website so PLEASE do yourself a favour and check it out and let us know what you think.

Produced by: Melon Videos / Studio Melon Ltd
Directed by: Alan Shenton
Co-directed by: Marcus Maschwitz / Greg Carlin
D.O.P: Marcus Maschwitz
Art direction by: Alan Shenton / Greg Carlin

Makeup by: Talana Torre

I cannot wait for this to hit television. For now, I have added a few photographs below from the videos itself. I will be enjoying shooting photographs in the bush so I apologize if I am quiet during this week.

Happy Christmas

Dear Reader in Les Rocks

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Dear Reader just arrived back from what sounds to be a super good trip throughout Europe and they just sent me these 2 scans of my photographs with them that have been published in Les Inrocks Magazine. These are them.

I will be shooting with them one more time before I leave to the UK and will blog those images soon so look out for them.

The New Rodes

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

My good friend, Byron, and his new wife, Jane, got married on saturday afternoon and we drove up to Weenen to celebrate with them on this special day. The wedding was a really good one and I shot a few photographs with them after the ceremony. Apart from dodging 10 000 000 mosquitoes and bugs, we were having a good time and just getting into it when we were attacked by a bunch of guys throwing rocks at us. It was seriously pitch black and we couldn’t see anything so it was super scary and we just scattered. Terrible for me and the boys but imagine how rubbish for the bride to run away in a wedding dress with high heels on. That’s Africa for you though. Have to be honest, I am excited to have a break from this place soon when we move to the UK for a while.

Anyway, this post is to congratulate my friends, the new Rodes, and then wish them all the best in the world. Below are just a few of the photographs that we did manage to get done.

Hope you all have a super week, Marcus
