JP Du Preez Killer Ad

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

I shot a few portraits with JP about a week back for an advert for Killer Trucks and it is to introduce him to the team. I love JP, he is always such a really fun guy to spend time with. It was hard because the ad is almost meant to be serious and JP always is laughing but I did get quite a few awesome ones. The first one is a lifestyle photo in the actual layout that they are running with and then the second was shot quite a bit later as the sun had gone down and we were left with the blue sky outside. I love the colours of both of them.killer truck introduction of jp du preez photographed by marcus maschwitzJP Du Preez portrait in a warehouse photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Session Issue 30

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

I shot an am’s article with Seth for the last issue of Session Skateboarding Magazine and now that it comes off shelf, I can post them on here. The first and second photographs were used in the article and then the third is just a sequence of his flip front board. The still is way nicer though.seth campbell kickflip frontside boardslide at skateworld in edenvale for session magazine photographed by marcus maschwitzPortrait of Seth Campbell for session magazine photographed by marcus maschwitzskateworld kickflip front board sequence photographed by marcus maschwitz

Warehouse Sessions

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Lately, Rudi and I have tried skateboarding again and the only thing that always puts me off is the “cool” dudes and the rubbish park facilities we have in South Africa. We decided a while back to try and make our own plan and make some obstacles that we could use by ourselves and not have to worry about everything else. This is a box we made and the photo is of Rudi doing one of his textbook crooked grinds on it in our secret warehouse. African Bush Adventures

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Ok, I have to admit that I have been slack and that these photographs should have been up ages ago. It’s just been ridiculously busy here and I am trying to save for a wedding so please excuse me. Haha.

I am still busy but just missing this getaway so much so took a bit of time to do this post. Basically, Anja and I hit the Kruger Park last month for my birthday and it was one of the most super holidays I have ever had. I loved it. I loved the bush. I loved the animals. I loved where we stayed. I loved shooting photos. I loved relaxing. I loved being with my girl. I loved that she got to relax and I loved being werry werry quite. Haha.

These aren’t the best ones cause I don’t really have time so I randomly selected some from the 2500ish photos that I shot. Either way, seeing them just makes me want to be back there right now.

Hope you are all well.

Sunday Morning in Newtown

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

This passed Sunday Rudi and I went to Newtown to drink some coffee, eat some breakfast and just walk around and enjoy the streets of Joburg. It was super cool and such a rad day outside, felt good to leave the office.Sitting at a pavement coffee shop in newtown on a sunday photographed by Marcus MaschwitzWalking around the streets in Newtown on a Sunday photographed by Marcus MaschwitzA photographer taking a picture of a basketball hoop photographed by Marcus MaschwitzA sign on Bree Street in Newtown Johannesburg photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Little Bullarats

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

My fiance, Anja, is running the baby centre at a Montessori Preschool and she organized that I shoot the childrens photographs this year. It was crazy shooting about 90 children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years. You have no idea. Some of them thought it was the best thing ever and wanted to pose and hang out all day and some burst into tears before they even made it to the shooting chair. It was fun though and a lot of them had the coolest personalities ever. This guy is one of my best, I wish I could post a lot more from the day but there are a lot of weirdos out there and I would rather keep photos of children off here.

Hope you are all well, its REALLY crazy here and feels like I need a SERIOUS break.Child Portrait photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Natures Lights

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

I was just in Kruger for a week with my misses and it was one of my best getaways ever. I really wanted to shoot photographs of wildlife as I haven’t done that properly before and loved it more than I could haveve imagined. I have a bunch of photographs from the trip (about 2200) and have a lot of catching up to do with work so will sort through them over the next few days and post some up here for you to see. We were really lucky and our hawk eyes served us well for spotting.

Anyway, it stormed on Thursday night and we were staying on the Crocodile River with my parents and I got to shoot 2 photographs before the lightning stopped. I really like this one.

Hope you are all well. M
