Bemo’s Palace
Saturday, December 15th, 2007Flashing Tamara Dey
Monday, December 10th, 2007I went to see Flash Republic play at Legends in Pretoria, with my fiance and my sister, on saturday night. The venue was amazing but the lighting for the venue wasn’t that good so I only shot a few photographs for the hell of it. I like this one a lot. As always, Flash were amazing.![]()
Fire Through The Window
Saturday, December 8th, 2007I think my most favourite band to watch at Woodstock this year was definitely the band Fire Through The Window. The main members include Sinead (fun girl with a pretty voice) and Marc from Nemesis Army and Permission to Float (guitar and vocals). Marc reminds me so much of Jack Black from the band Tenacious D and I mean that in a super good way. He really is the coolest acoustic guitar player I have watched in ages. It was muddy and again the light was not good so I never shot much of them but I hope I will be able to soon. Awesome band.![]()
New Born Fire
Saturday, December 8th, 2007I have been wanting to shoot photographs of the guys from New Born Fire for ages but something always gets in the way. I got to shoot a few of them playing on the Revolution Stage at Woodstock 9 last weekend but the lighting wasn’t that great cause it was still daytime and I hate shooting live band photos then. Anyway, these ones are really cool actually and these guys are so fun to watch and listen too. Check them out if you haven’t.![]()

Alan Rocking the ’63 Fender Strat
Thursday, December 6th, 2007My buddy Alan is the raddest guitarist I have ever seen. No one could ever be more excited about guitar than he is. Not just about playing a guitar but everything that comes with them and the way that they are made. It’s amazing and I love speaking to him and seeing him so excited when we do chat. Anyway, he has been refurbishing an original 1963 Fender Strat and I went to his place today just to shoot a few photos for him and to see the guitar. Amazing, it’s old and has been used so much that you can just see and feel that it has some amazing stories behind it.
While I am writing about Alan, I thought I would mention that the two of us have started a sideline motion photography (video) company together and although we are still working on the marketing and stuff, feel free to have a look at the website and wish us good luck. The link is www.melonvideos.co.za
I hope the festive season is already getting you excited and that you are all well. Chat soon, Marcus![]()

Roadtripping to Woodstock
Sunday, December 2nd, 2007I did a little road trip to Harrismith on saturday morning to shoot some band photographs at Woodstock 9. Unfortunately I had a work emergency that forced me to leave earlier than I had hoped so I never got to shoot most of the bands that I wanted to but work is work and I try my best to make sure that all my clients get the best service possible. Anyway, I shot this panoramic, of my car, on the way there and I really like it. I love that the road I am parked on is totally empty and the sky and the green fields. Hope everyone else had a good weekend.
