Soviet Jeans

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

It has been a while but I shot a few photographs for Soviet today that they are going to use for an in-store banner. They are working on it quite a lot to make it look old and rugged but I thought I would post one of the ones I liked the most.Authentic Soviet Jeans worn by Nicole De Sousa for a Soviet instore banner photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Cape Town at night

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

I forgot I shot this photograph when I was last in Cape Town and saw it now and really liked it. I remember how nervous I was parking on the bridge at night and shooting so I never stayed long. I really wish it was safer here to try this out more.Night shot on a freeway in Cape Town photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

It’s an an ti que

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

I have been photographing a collection of Antiques for a private collector and I really liked these two tea pots so decided to post them. It made me laugh of the first time I saw the skits from Corne’ and Twakkie. It’s an an ti que photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Cindy Nell

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

I shot these photographs a really long time ago of Cindy Nell shooting for a music video. I really forgot about them and was backing up my drives today and saw them and wanted to post these two cause I thought they were quite cool. I never ever saw the music video but it was for a local artist named Llewellyn or something like that.Cindy Nell, former Miss South Africa, during a video shoot photographed by Marcus MaschwitzCindy Nell, former Miss South Africa, during a video shoot photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

JP Du Preez is Rock and Roll

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

I shot a conversation styled article with JP Du Preez that is featured in the current issue of Session Skateboarding Magazine. I love shooting with JP and just hanging out with him, he is one of my favourite skateboarders ever, and honestly one of the nicest guys ever. No one has more fun on a board than him and it’s amazing just watching him do what he does. Go buy the magazine now, it’s really a rad issue and goes off shelves in the next few days. Anyway, these are the photo’s that are featured of him as well as a few that I really like. Keep an eye out for JP, he’s going to make it huge.

The Tweeds

Friday, November 16th, 2007

I shot photos yesterday for my friends from the band Harris Tweed. I had an idea a while back for a shoot that I wanted to do with them but I have been so worried that it wouldn’t work out the way I had imagined. Anyway, yesterday we gave it a bash and I really like the results a lot. These are just a few of the favourites but there are a lot more that work well too. Night of 1000 Drawings

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Tonight was the Night of 1000 Drawings evening and it was really awesome. The guys really do put together an amazing event for a good cause. I contributed 6 photographs again but they were put together in a rush which I don’t feel good about as I really wanted to shoot something unique just for the event. Anyway, these are the six and they were all shot on my trip to Taiwan at the beginning of last year when I went to visit the misses as she was teaching English there for the year. SUCH an amazing place.Night of 1000 drawing contribution of Taiwan photographed by Marcus MaschwitzNight of 1000 drawing contribution of Taiwan photographed by Marcus MaschwitzNight of 1000 drawing contribution of Taiwan photographed by Marcus MaschwitzNight of 1000 drawing contribution of Taiwan photographed by Marcus MaschwitzNight of 1000 drawing contribution of Taiwan photographed by Marcus MaschwitzNight of 1000 drawing contribution of Taiwan photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Uncle Rudi

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Haha, I shot some more photos just for the hell of it yesterday with Uncle Rudi. The skate one is really cool and I kind of like the portrait one too. It was just a spur of the moment to turn around and flash him in the face so the flash I was holding in my hand is quite a bit overexposed but it does look quite cool anyway.Rudi Jeggle skateboarding and portrait photographed by Marcus MaschwitzRudi Jeggle skateboarding and portrait photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

NOFX

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

NOFX is currently touring South Africa thanks to the guys from Punk Safari. I went to the show last night and it really brought back a lot of good memories from when I was younger and just getting into skateboarding with my friends. These guys have been playing together for basically as long as I have been alive for. I like this photo a lot. It’s not of anyone running around going crazy on stage but it really makes me feel excited about live shows.Fuzigish setting up for their show at Bassline photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

12 November 2007

Monday, November 12th, 2007

For some reason the sunset has been amazing a few days in a row. It’s great but now I look like a sunset addict or something. Haha. I shot this about 5 minutes ago off the roof again and really love the way the clouds look and the sun rays.

On a different note, going to see NOFX now so hopefully I will sneak my camera in and be able to shoot some stuff to post tomorrow. Have a good evening. M

Sunset and Rain Panoramic

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

My buddy Alan smsed me this afternoon to tell me to have a look at the sunset. Funnily, I was already up on the roof shooting it. He is a videographer and we always let each other know when we see something amazing. So this photo is a panoramic I shot (17 photographs stitched together) of the sunset over Johannesburg with an amazing rainbow on the other side. It really was incredible and the size of the photo on here really does it no justice, but please click on it for the bigger image just to get a bit of an idea.

Wilderness Sky

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

I was shooting in Wilderness and Knysna over the weekend for a client but cannot show any of the stuff until it all goes out first. Anyway, I couldn’t believe that it was my first trip down there and I really think that it is the most beautiful side of South Africa I have ever seen. I shot this photo around lunch time on sunday directly into the sun just because I have a thing for the clouds and sky.

Flying home from George

Monday, November 5th, 2007

I was working in Wilderness / Knysna this weekend shooting for a new guesthouse that will be opening up this month called iKhaya Wilderness. It was my first time down there and it really is amazing. Anyway, I flew back today with Nationwide Airlines and it was the craziest Scenic flight I have ever had. I love flying. Here are 3 shots I took of us breaking through the stormy clouds with the sunset peaking through while ascending. The first two are between the clouds looking into the sun and the last one was taken as we were on top of the clouds with the sun shining under neath them.
