My Model

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

I haven’t had much time to experiment with my studio equipment yet as it really has been a busy year. I do use them for the shoots I have but I really have been wanting to use them more for shooting people instead of objects. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I shot some photos of my fiance the other day and it was too funny cause she was trying to be serious and kept laughing. It was really spur of the moment and I surprised her so I am going to try again soon but plan it right so that the shoot suites her. This one is really cool though but you can see she is about to crack up laughing any second. She’s amazing. My fiance, Anja Pomeroy prettending to be a model photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Mozi Rocks

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

I shot this photo at the end of last year on a Revolution road trip that we went on to Durban. We stayed at Jays house and he let us ride in his empty pool and Moses ripped it up as always. I forgot about this photo but really like it a lot.Moses Adams rock and rolling in the deep end of a swimming pool photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Cross

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

This is from quite a long time ago but it is kind of cool. I shot it on an old film camera that I bought from hospice and scanned the slide on my crappy home scanner. Colours are way off but it works for me.A Mexican Cross on a wall photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Driving Carrie

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

I shot this photo the other day of myself driving in my car. Her name is Carrie and she is really special. Haha.Driving in my car Carrie around town photographed by Marcus Maschwitz

Johannesburg Sunset

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

The sunset tonight was really amazing over Johannesburg. I sadly wasn’t close enough to town to get the photo I would really have liked to shoot so this one will have to do. I just photographed it from my roof after getting a call from the misses to have a look.

Mr Jack Skellington

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

I have a ton of toys / figurines but my most favourite are the ones from the movies made by Tim Burton. There was bad lightning today and I didn’t want my computer to get hit so I unplugged it and decided to shoot photographs instead. This one is a portrait of Jack Skellington.

Sandton in Lomo

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

I have always been interested in lomography but for some reason I haven’t purchased a camera of theirs yet to try it out. I will some day but for now I thought I would just try and process to create a similar feel. I was shooting for a client last night and when I got to the location, the sunset over Sandton City was really amazing so I thought it would be a good place to try my idea out. I shot with a fisheye and processed the photo the way I thought it would look, not sure if I am right or not but I like it.

Session Issue 27

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

Braxton Haines is 13 years old and knows how to ride a skateboard better than you could imagine. He was interviewed in issue 27 of Session Skateboarding Magazine which is going to be coming off shelves now. I shot 90% of his article for the magazine and it consisted of 6 of the images below. I am really stoked for their next issue that is going to be coming out now as it will feature quite a bit more of my work which I am really stoked about. Keep your eyes peeled, it’s going to be a good one for sure.

Signal Hill

Monday, October 15th, 2007

For some reason the weather in Cape Town is always amazing when I am there. Friday was another day like that so we drove up to the top of Signal Hill just to enjoy the view and I shot these two photographs of a tree with some guinea fowl running free with the ocean in the background. I understand why tourists love it there.

Cloudy Sunset in Lakeside

Monday, October 15th, 2007

I shot these photographs during another shoot. I have this thing for sunsets and even more for clouds so I had to try and capture some of what was going on.

Kalk Bay Door

Monday, October 15th, 2007

I was down in Cape Town for business with my friend Alan on thursday and we did a bit of driving around and shooting in between call times. There was this old looking door that I noticed but it was really hard to shoot because of a million cars passing by. These are the two shots I managed to get while avoiding being knocked over.

My Giraffe Buddy

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

I am known as a giraffe to a few of my friends for being tall so over the years I have been given a whole bunch of giraffe toys as gifts. This one is one of my favourite just because it has the most goofy eyes ever and for the funny way that he stands. Anyway, I was messing around with my lights last night and thought he would make a cool subject. I shot a whole bunch and then did something really stupid and shocked the living hell out of myself cleaning the studio lights. Man ALIVE. Don’t ever service your flash equipment yourself cause the charge they carry is insane. I swear that for a few seconds my eyes looked the same as this guys. Hope you well, thanks for reading and for the support. M

Bradley the Pirate

Monday, October 8th, 2007

I shot this photo of Bradley Jones under the same light on the same wall and love this one the most. He is a real pirate. He is getting married in less than 2 weeks. “Good luck with marrying an amazing girl my boy. So excited for you.”

Wall Light Portraits

Monday, October 8th, 2007

My friend Bradley is getting married in less than 2 weeks so we all went to the Vaal Dam this weekend to enjoy some time with him as a bachelor. It rained a WHOLE bunch so I shot some portraits of him and Alan on the porch standing under a light on the wall.

Lagwagon 2006

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

I shot this photograph of Lagwagon playing here last year. These guys were definitely one of my favourite bands growing up and the show was filled with amazing memories from that time. I was just sorting through these now and liked this one so thought I would post it. The guys from Punk Safari were responsible from bringing them out so a big thank you to them. They have since been working hard and will be bringing out NOFX at the beginning of November (next month) and that’s something worth looking forward to. That’s it really. Have a good one. M
