Mozi went to Jozi

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

I am going to Cape Town this weekend to shoot an interview with Moses Adams for the next Session Magazine and I am super excited. I love that little guy and just enjoy watching him skate so much. I really feel privelleged that I am getting to shoot with him. Anyway, this is an old photograph I shot when Mozi was in Jozi a while back and I just like the way it looks. Will keep you up to speed as we progress on the shoot. Have a good one, Marcus

It Ain’t Me Babe

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

My friends from Harris Tweed were recording the day before yesterday so I went passed to hang out and just enjoy the studio and their company.

I had 3 ideas of the career I wanted to one day follow and these were photographer, sound engineer and chef. I even job shadowed Darryl for a bit and we were laughing cause if I had’ve carried on with sound engineering, Darryl would’ve been my REAL boss. However, I chose photography and I still have plenty to learn, but I do really enjoy music and the studio so much.

Anyway, I shot a whole bunch of photographs in the studio but for some reason I am having MAJOR problems today trying to convert the raw NEF files and it is going to drive me mad so I am just going to put these ones up for now. Haven’t shown the band yet so hopefully they will like them. I want to be in a band, or play music at least. It really must be the best thing. The Harris Tweed posse really inspires me a lot.

Good friends, good music, good fun, good times and a lot of talent and laughs. Check them out if you haven’t yet.

My Setup

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Ok, as random as this may seem, I have had this idea in my head to shoot my board and shoe/s together on the floor for some time. It really has been something I keep thinking about at a weird and inconvenient time so it just hasn’t happened yet. Anyway, this is it, finally and I like it. Just my board and shoes shot with natural light on a rough concrete floor and my trusty 50mm lens. It’s simply just skateboarding.

Cape Town

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

I went down to the West Coast for my birthday in 2005 and on my way to the airport, at something mad like 6am, I passed Blouberg Strand and saw this scene. It was awesome and really one of the nicest things I have ever seen. Only problem is that I never had my big lenses with me. I decided I had to shoot it wide so posed myself as the subject and used the camera’s timer to set it off. I love this shot. An amazing memory of a special place that I am growing to like more and more every time I go there. I hope this gives you the feeling that I get when I see it.

Al Rocking the Tweeds

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

I shot a bunch of photographs for my friends from Harris Tweed last year at the Levi’s Rage for the Revolution event and never really looked at them much until Alan’s sister asked me for these photographs for her to scrap book with. I had a look at them and really liked these two. Al is one of my favourite subjects.

My Light

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

I got me a new soft box for Christmas and haven’t really had much time to shoot with it yet until today. I had to shoot some photographs of jeans for a friend of mine and then wanted to see what it would look like through my fisheye. So this is me shooting a photo of myself and my new light. What a best gift.

The Capels

Monday, January 8th, 2007

I was just busy sorting out through some of my photographs trying to get everything nice and neat for the new year ahead. Anyway, this photograph is of my friends Jude and Trysie and their daughter, Lillia, on her baptism this last month. I really like it and love the people in it.
